LGBTQ community is a group of lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender,LGBTQ organizations, and subculture united by a common culture and social movements.

There is currently no app that provides a platform to help LGBTQ+ people find new friends and establish long lasting friendships.

Frendly is on a mission to establish meaningful and long lasting friendships among LGBTQ+ people.

  • 93% use texting/chatting as the primary mechanism to maintain their friendship
     

  • 85% prioritize “Shared Interest” while making new friends

Interview Objectives

We wanted to understand:

  • How people currently meet people in the LGBTQ+ community

  • What challenges they face when making new friends

  • How they build and maintain close friendships

  • Ideally, even breakdown between people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s

  • Life stage (recently came out vs came out years ago)

Problem Statement

Andrew wants a better way to find and interact with LGBTQ+ people in his local community who share similar interests so that he can build more meaningful friendships and feel a stronger sense of belonging.

Usability Test

Goal:

To easily find and engage with users, groups, and events that align with the participants interests

Metrics for success:

Participants should be able to complete each task in less than 1 minute with no more than 2 errors

Objectives:

  • To understand how intuitive it is for users to navigate the app, perform actions, and interact with users / groups

  • To gauge relevance of content and ease of search for users, groups, and events of interest
